Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Next Manga Will Delve Into the Concept of “Femme Fatale”

The Chainsaw Man author has expressed his love for this brand of female characters during previous occasions.

In his next manga, Tatsuki Fujimoto wants to create something revolving around the theme of "femme fatale," as he loved the idea of a woman who would destroy everything in her path, according to a Chainsaw Man illustration at the Tatsuki Fujimoto exhibition at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.

This knowledge was supplied as a "gift" solely to the exhibition, according to a letter beneath the artwork.

The author made this illustration of Chainsaw Man in November 2021, especially for this exhibition. As a second gift, he also gives us exclusive information about his next manga: ‘I wanted to create something about the femme fatale. I love this image – the typical woman who destroys everything in her path! In my opinion, it will please the fans of the genre

It is not yet confirmed whether this character will be explored in an entirely new manga, or in Chainsaw Man part two, which has been scheduled to begin serialization on Shonen Jump+ in the summer of 2022.

In a 2017 interview with Hiroaki Samura, author of Blade of the Immortal, Fujimoto has expressed his love for irrational and dominant women who are in “higher positions than men”.

Makima - Chainsaw Man

In the interview, Fujimoto recalled how happy he was when, during college, a woman who was mean to him knocked his bike over. He added that, due to these masochist tendencies, he can easily relate to Denji from Chainsaw Man, who is in love with the intimidating Makima.

I also like domineering and irrational women. In college, there was a girl who was mean to me, and then one day at school my bicycle had fallen over. I was wondering what happened, when she said ‘I knocked your bike over, ha ha ha!’ I was so happy.
— Tatsuki Fujimoto

Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man is getting an anime adaptation, which you can read more about at: Chainsaw Man
