Japan International Manga Award Now Accepting Submissions: An Exciting Opportunity for Maldivian Manga Artists
As a leading anime and manga news platform in the Maldives, Guildmv is thrilled to announce that the Japanese Embassy in the Maldives has recently tweeted about the prestigious Japan International Manga Award. This annual competition is a fantastic opportunity for manga artists from the Maldives and around the world to showcase their talent and creativity.
The Japan International Manga Award, established in 2007 by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to recognize and promote the global expansion of manga culture. With the growing popularity of manga in the Maldives, this competition presents a unique chance for Maldivian artists to represent their country on an international stage.
As the Maldives is famous for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, Maldivian manga artists can draw inspiration from the breathtaking surroundings to create captivating stories that highlight local culture and natural beauty. By incorporating traditional Maldivian elements into their work, artists can contribute to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Maldives' rich cultural heritage.
To apply for the Japan International Manga Award, applicants must submit their original manga works, along with a completed application form, to the Japanese Embassy in the Maldives. Entries can be submitted in either printed or digital format, but they must be unpublished works that have not received any awards from other manga competitions.
Conditions of Entry
Eligible MANGA works must consist of more than 16 pages. Both published
and unpublished works are eligible to apply, with the exception of works that
have won previous Japan International MANGA Awards.
Eligible MANGA works should have been created within the past three years
(2020-2023) from the date of application.
Eligible MANGA works must be submitted in electronic form (PDF) or printed
form (works submitted in electronic form will be printed for selection
procedures).
Publishing companies outside Japan may apply for the Japan International
MANGA Award if the copyright holder of the MANGA work agrees to the
application.
Either the comic artist or the story writer of the submitted work must be a
foreign national. The representative who will participate in the invitation program for the Gold / Silver Award winners must also be a foreign national as well.
Only one entry per comic artist will be accepted. In the case of multiple entries, only the first entry will be accepted.
The organizer may use some of the winning entries to promote the Japan International MANGA Award both in Japan and abroad.
The deadline for submissions is July 7, 2023, and the results will be announced in the winter of the same year. The winning artists will receive an award certificate and trophy, as well as an invitation to attend the award ceremony in Japan. Additionally, the winners will have the opportunity to meet with renowned Japanese manga artists and visit publishing companies, fostering valuable connections and gaining insights into the professional manga industry.
The Japan International Manga Award is an excellent platform for Maldivian manga artists to showcase their talents and gain international recognition. Guildmv encourages aspiring artists in the Maldives to seize this opportunity and submit their best work to the competition.
