Studio Ghibli Teases Collaboration with Lucasfilm

Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli are joining forces on a new project. No one knows what that project is.

No official word yet on what kind of project this is, or if it will be a one-off for Disney's or Studio Ghibli's Star Wars theme park attractions. The logo does seem to suggest some sort of animated short film.

Hayao Miyazaki had previously announced that will be returning to co-direct a new anime film — his first since 2013's The Wind Rises.

Star Wars: Visions, an anthology of nine animated shorts from Japanese creators and anime studios, premiered on Disney+ in September 2021. The shorts were created by studios such as Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Kamikaze Douga, Science SARU, Production I.G, and Geno Studio.

It was revealed that the collaboration was for the celebration of three years of The Mandalorian.

"ZenGrogu and Dust Bunnies" is a hand drawn animated short by Studio Ghibli in association with Lucasfilm.

Released on Disney+ on November 12th.

How Do You Live?, was announced by Studio Ghibli in October 2017. Toshio Suzuki stated that Miyazaki is making the film for his grandson as a way of saying, "Grandpa is moving on to the next world soon, but he is leaving this film behind."
