Manga Creator Tsunezō Murotani Passes Away

Manga-related services Tsunez Murotani, the creator of the manga Toshokan Z, died on November 22 of last year, according to Toshokan Z. He was 87 years old when he died.

Murotani is primarily renowned for his historical manga, although he also did humor and horror. Murotani made his debut in the Mainichi Chgakusei Shimbun supplement of The Mainichi Shimbun newspaper in 1953 with the Nihon Rekishi Manpo (Strolling Through Japanese History) manga. The Kaminari Boy Pikkaribee television anime, based on his Biribiri Beet manga, aired from 1967 to 1968. Similarly, his Doctor Tsururi manga influenced the 1968 television animation Fight Da!! Pyuta.

Murotani began writing the Gakken Manga series (shown at right) in the 1970s, which consists of 15 books and focuses on Japanese history, world history, and historical people.
